What is a paper machine?

How does a paper machine work?
A paper machine or paper web manufacturing device consists of several parts, each of which is responsible for a certain stage of production. Also, a distinction is made between wet and dry zones in the machine.
The screen part is located in the wet zone and is responsible for dewatering the fibrous mass and forming the web. The mass is fed onto a special liquid removal screen. Then it enters the press part, where residual water is filtered and the material is compacted. After that, the web moves to the dry zone – first to the drying section, where moisture evaporates, and then to the processing section, where the web is processed and the finished material of a certain smoothness and density is formed.
How is paper made now?
For the manufacture of paper, coniferous wood, birch, poplar, chestnut, etc., secondary raw materials (waste paper), and sometimes cotton cellulose are used. Chemicals can act as binding elements, and mixtures of organic and inorganic origin are chosen for bleaching.
The technology of papermaking involves several stages. The first is the preparation of raw materials. The wood is crushed, mixed with water, chips are removed and then boiled in acids with the addition of other substances to obtain fibrous mass, which after cleaning enters the paper machine. This paper production equipment contains several sections consisting of screens, shafts, presses, cylinders and other elements, with the help of which a paper web is formed step by step from the fibrous mass. After the production process is completed in the machine, this web is sorted, defects are eliminated, after which it is cut and wound into rolls.
